  17. It has long been a source of frustration that Kermit 95's security
  18. features such as Kerberos, SSL/TLS, and now SSH could not leave the
  19. confines of the USA and Canada.  As of now, that's history; we now
  20. have permission to export the cryptographic version of Kermit 95 to
  21. most of the world's countries.

  23. The United States Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security
  24. (BIS), via CCATS # G025631 dated 07/16/2002, has granted to Kermit 95:

  26.  . Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) 5D002
  27.    (Telecommunications and Information Security - Software),
  28.    Paragraph C.1.

  30.  . Export License Exception ENC (Encryption Commodities and Software) 
  31.    under Sections 740.17(A) and 740.17(B)(3) of the US Export 
  32.    Administration Regulations (EAR).

  34. The License Exception allows export of the cryptographic version of K95
  35. (i.e. the one that includes SSH, Kerberos, SSL/TLS, and other security
  36. methods) to all countries except Cuba, Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Libya,
  37. Sudan, and Syria (this list of countries is specified in the applicable
  38. sections of the EAR, and not chosen by us).
